Prof. Yasuhiro Kohsaka was born in Tokyo in 1984. In 2005, he graduated from Tokyo Institute of Technology with skipping the 4th grade. He started his academic carrier as JSPS Research Fellowship for Young Scientist (DC-1) in 2008. He was further educated as a visiting student in Massachusetts Institute of Technology under the guidance of Prof. Timothy M. Swager in 2010. He received his PhD degree in 2011 from Tokyo Institute of Technology under the supervision by Prof. Toshikazu Takata in the field of supramolecular polymer chemistry. In the same yearer he moved to Assistant Professor in Osaka University. There he changed his research area to precise polymerization chemistry, particularly the synthesis of stereoregular end-functional polymer with Prof. Tatsuki Kitayama. In 2011, he become principle investigator in Shinshu University and hold the independent group as a Assistant Professor. In 2018, he advanced to an Associate Professor.
