The "Fiber in Motion" Exhibition

The "Fiber in Motion" exhibition was held from June 30 to August 31 in 2004 at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation under a joint sponsorship between the museum and the Society of Fiber Science. In the exhibition, advanced fiber technologies from everything from the fields of sports to space exploration to biotechnology were introduced under the theme of high-tech fiber changing the future.
After remodeling as a touring exhibition, the exhibits were moved to the Shinshu University Faculty of Textile Science and Technology and displayed permanently at the Textile Museum.

Exhibits are classified into the following categories, and the latest developments in and future of fiber technology are introduced.
¢£Resource recycling society
¢£Bio-mimicry (mimicking nature)
¢£Extreme environments
¢£Nanotechnology
¢£Functionality & comfort

At the Faculty of Textile Science and Technology, exhibits indicating the future of fiber will be displayed on the second floor of General Research Building. In the resource center (brick storage building), the history of fiber will be displayed to offer a comprehensive view of the past/present/future of fiber science as in a museum.
